MiraVia Fundraising banquet

Brother Knights,

As you know, we are called to be pro-life by our Church and the Holy Father.  In support, I am hosting a table at the MiraVia Annual Fundraising banquet on October 22nd.  There are 8 places and I have 4 people planned so far.  I would like to know if anyone else would be interested in supporting this cause, and joining Gretchen and I at the banquet.  This would certainly count as a pro-life event for obtaining your ACE wings as a Knight.

http://www.mira-via.org/news-and-events/annual-banquet/

Note that any donations would be personal donations and not coming from our council.  But, this is certainly a good cause and they provide critical support to young women that may not feel they have any choice beyond abortion.

Regards,

RE: Corporate Communion

Brother Knights,

Attached is the list for those who signed up to visit Brother Jerry Ball at White Oak Manor.  As you can see there are still a few openings for visits so please consider spending some time with Jerry.  His family would really appreciate it.

Deacon Henry Bernal from Divine Saviour in York commented yesterday that this effort is truly an outpouring of fraternity from the Knights.

Brothers we need your help.

Dear Brothers,

As you may know each year the Council works to make Star Council. In order to accomplish this we must meet a variety of criteria established by Supreme. This includes earning the Father Mc Givney award for membership Recruitment. The Colombian Award, councils must complete at least four programs in each of the six Colombian Award categories.  Plus we are required to the get the Founder's Award. To get the Founders award the council must make our Insurance Quota. By meeting all this criteria and achieving Star Council we benefit in a number of ways. Most importantly the per Capita we must pay to Supreme bi annually is eliminated saving the Council approximately $1,200.00. This savings allows the council to do more with the money we save throughout the year.

So far this fraternal year the council has achieved everything we need except one item. Currently we are falling short with our insurance quota. To help Councils achieve Star Council, Supreme has reinstituted the $100.00 Annuity Program. Normally $300.00 is required to begin the Annuity Program. This is a great way to start or to enhance your retirement program without breaking the bank. This special program is open to all Brothers who have less than 10 years of service.

If you are interested in purchasing this annuity please contact our Financial Secretary Geary Bradley, at 803-3727806 or email him at bradleygm2000@gmail.com me at 703-626-5035 or email me at honeydewcontr@msn.com. We will need to have your application and check for $100.00 by May 15th.  You will not only help the council but will helping yourself build a better future for yourself and your family.

Additional thoughts

Brother Knights,

I am trying to organize a table of 8 to support the Palmetto Pregnancy Center of Rock Hill fundraiser.  I believe that this puts into practice our goal of eliminating abortions and providing support for the parents.  I received the following message from the Center Director:

"I wanted to personally invite The Knights of Columbus to the Palmetto Pregnancy Centers Annual Fundraising Banquet.  The Palmetto Pregnancy Center is an amazing organization that provides services to women, men and families in York County and is able to do so based on the contributions and support of organizations like yours.  We would be honored if you would attend our event and/or sponsor a table by filling it with 8 people who would be interested in partnering with us financially.  Our focus this year is on men and marriage.  We have started a men's coaching program and realize the important role a man and marriage play in the decision for a woman to choose to parent her baby.  If you cannot attend the event but would like a tour of our facility give us a call at 803-329-2524 to make an appointment.  If you cannot attend but would like to help us reach our goal of $200,000, you can make a donation here: http://www.palmettopregnancycenter.com/ or mail a donation to Palmetto Pregnancy Center 828 Lucas Street Rock Hill, SC 29732.  I hope to hear from you soon to reserve a place for you at our banquet.  We covet your prayers always".

The 2016 Fundraising Banquet is May 5

6:00PM - 8:00PM, doors open at 5:30

First Baptist Church,481 Hood Center Drive, Rock Hill, SC  29732

Contact Ray Howard at 803-325-1086 if you want to attend with Jan and me.

In addition, the Knights will be hosting the Silver Rose program this coming Tuesday at 7:00PM in the St. Anne Church.  The Icon and program has been coming to us annually for the last few years and shows our commitment to Our Lady of Guadalupe. The Silver Rose begins its path each year in Canada and ends its journey in Mexico on the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe.   I hope you and your family can attend this truly amazing event.

Personal Thank You

I sincerely wish to thank everyone who helped to make our FishFry last Friday a great success. Especially the all the spouses for their assistance in the kitchen preparing the plates and seeing that all the interior operations ran smoothly. Not to mention the wonderful deserts they made for us all to enjoy. Thank you one and all  for one super terrific job.

I am especially proud of the way we came together to sovle the power problem, and the one out fryer to still get the job done. What a great example of teamwork.

Our customers raved out the food Friday evening and were still talking about it yesterday in the Gathering Space telling us and all their friends on how terrific the food was. I gave up counting on how many told me it was the best tasting fried fish they ever had. Looks like the batter tasting committee made the right choice. Thank you committee for taking one of evenings to be a part of that process.

Thank You All,

Sincerely,

Up coming Reminders

This Friday February 19th is our First Lenten Fish Fry of the Year. A lot has changed since last year to improve the quality of our fish dinners. We will be using our new electric fryers to cook the fish and the fries. We will be using a new batter, which won the taste test competition we held. The test was a blind competition and all the judges agreed this batter was an outstanding choice for taste and crunchiness.
We are still looking for help since the FF's require more hands then the breakfast. Bring your wife it is also a great time for the wife's socialize and be involved. I also understand that some will not be able to volunteer but you can still support the council by coming and having dinner and talking it up to your friends and neighbors.

Saturday Feb 20th is the councils turn at Dorothy Day Soup Kitchen we will need 6 to 8 Knights for approximately 3 hours roughly 10 to 1.

A week from Sat. Feb. 27th is our winter blood drive from 11 to 3 PM we will be in the Gathering space again this weekend doing sign ups. Remember all the blood collected remains in our area to help you, your family and friends. Many people do not realize that the need for blood and blood products actually increases in the winter months and supply dwindles due to weather. If you cannot make the February 27th date you can donate at the Community Blood Center from now to the 14th of March and it will count toward our drive. All you have to do when you donate is give them the following number 51101-35418.
There is no greater gift you can give during lent then helping to save someone's life with the gift of blood.

On Sat. March 5th the SC Mens Conference will be held at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Goose Creek, SC. You can register on line at  www.sccatholicmensconf.org Dan trick is organiziing a van trip contact him if you are interesting in car pooling.

On March 13th from 2 to 4:30 we will be celebrating the Councils 40 th Anniverary in the Parish Center. Please RSVP to me our Ray Howard if you and your spouse /guest plan on attending.
The council will be presenting a specially etched wine glass to commorate our 40th anniversary to the remaining charter members and their wives. Worthy Grand Knights,

Please pass this along to your members.  After you see the video, you will become a more of a believer of one of the tenants of our faith.

Think about this the next time you receive the Eucharist.  Once a priest consecrates the host, during mass, it changes.

"Is it really the body of Christ?"
